Learn to define types of legal issues SUD clients face in court. Define roles of each court, and how they impact clients. Focus on Family Court, Dependency Court, Licensing Boards, Immigration Court, Civil Court, Social Security Disability, Workers Compensation, Unemployment Insurance, DMV, Military Diversion, and Mental Health Diversion (new alternatives and laws passed in California). Also, Define Alternative Sentencing. Discuss alternative sentencing, how to qualify, and who qualifies. Discuss the role of the assessment, and how to use the assessment to benefit court cases. Finally, discuss how to testify in court.
Ms. Harkness is a Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, through the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP), license number LC103390315. She is a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate through the Board of Behavioral Science, number IMF98014. She has over 15,000 hours of experience in the provision of substance use disorder assessment and treatment. She has over 17 years of experience in the development and implementation of educational curricula with regard to SUD treatment paradigms and processes.
