Call for Presentations

Guidelines for Composition

  • Proposals should reflect the diversity of membership, including practitioners, academics, students, and consultants;
    federal, state, and local governments; and public, private, and nonprofits.
  • Workshop presentations involve facilitated theater-style learning opportunities. Your presentation must be able to fit into a 1.5 or 3-hour session.
  • Keynote speaker requests require completion of this application.

The Conference Program Committee will give preference to presentations demonstrating the use of current research and theory. Suggested topics include:

  • Clinical Supervision: providing clinical supervision in the SUD profession including cultural competencies and special populations.
  • Cultural and Diversity Issues: Ethnic and cultural sensitivity & treatment needs, diversity, equity and inclusion, sexual orientation, alcoholism among the elderly, adolescent treatment, and veteran’s issues.
  • LGBTQ: Addressing LGBTQ issues within the context of substance use disorder treatment for clients and
    for staff working with LGBTQ clients.
  • Clinical Issues: Co-occurring disorders, aftercare, intervention, relapse prevention, enhancing motivation for change, intake, assessments, and documentation specific to the cultural needs of the patient.
  • Criminal Justice & DUI Issues: Treatment interventions for criminal justice programs, drug courts, inmates, probation, parole, halfway houses, and prison-based programs.
  • Ethics and Professional Issues: Ethical concerns within different settings, industry watch-dogs, peer assistance, burnout, stress, humor, peer support, and mentoring. Specific ethics presentations regarding gender, culture, and special populations.
  • AOD Prevention: The fundamentals of prevention, outcomes, and continuum of care.
  • Pharmacotherapy: Medical interventions in the treatment of SUD. Medication-assisted treatment.
  • Personal and Professional Wellness: Focus on the individual AOD professional and other human service
    providers.
  • Private Practice: How to start and/or manage a substance use disorder private practice.
  • Managed Care: Integrating managed care and Medi-Cal into a SUD treatment facility.
  • Intervention & Referral: Disease model and recovery process. Information, referral, detoxification, treatment modalities.
  • Women’s Treatment: Domestic violence, sexual assault, parenting, health, and career issues.
  • Marketing & Administration: Successful and best practice marketing and admissions strategies.
  • Sober living: Providing successful and best practices for Sober living.
  • Families: Domestic violence, family dynamics related to addiction, children, spouses, significant others,
    friends; specific to multicultural family concerns.
  • Executive Track: Created for executives, administrators, and future leaders in addiction treatment organizations, the executive and administrator is an intense track about key business and clinical-care topics in the business of treatment and substance use disorders.

The deadline for Completed Applications is August 31, 2024

General Information

Applications will be judged on originality, perceived interest, need, quality of submission, objectives, and references. An effort to balance the conference program will also be a consideration in the selection process. Recognizing the advanced level of attendees, presentations should be addressed to a post-certification level audience.

*Presentations may not include sales or marketing of products or services.

Individuals may not send more than two submissions for the committee to evaluate.

To show our appreciation for presenters’ contributions to the educational content of the conference, CCAPP will grant a 25% discount on conference registration fees for each primary presenter chosen. Please contact CCAPP Accounting to receive the discount by email to [email protected]

If chosen to present at the CCAPP 10th Annual CAC conference, the presenter agrees to be recorded on a CD and prepare a paper to be included in a compendium of papers which may be distributed to each participant at the annual CAC conference or posted on the CCAPP website. Presenters also fully agree to grant the CCAPP Weekly Dispatch and other CCAPP publications the first publication rights for one year following the presentation.

If you are a licensed, certified, or registered individual, your credential must be in good standing to present at our annual CAC conference. The conference committee or office may request proof of credentials in good standing.

Workshop Materials/Handouts

Presenters must submit any handouts to CCAPP to be uploaded into the online platform. This includes a pdf version of your presentation if you wish to share your slides. CCAPP will not share your presentation slides without your permission.

Continuing Education Credits

Please complete the CE section on the application form. In order for attendees to receive credits for attending the conference, they will need to answer test questions taken from each workshop. You will be required to submit three
test questions applicable to your presentation.

Audio / Visual

CCAPP will provide a mic (if needed), a projector and screen, and a windows based laptop. Those who wish to use a Mac (your own) should bring relevant adapters. Breakout rooms will not have speakers for sound. CCAPP does not provide other equipment or technical assistance.
