David Vandervelde is the Co-Founding Executive Director of Awakening Recovery, a Los Angeles nonprofit providing long-term, abstinence-based recovery housing for men and women with limited financial resources. After a near-fatal struggle with addiction, David entered recovery at age 19 and has remained actively involved in recovery community service, mentorship, and nonprofit leadership for more than three decades. After a 25-year career producing large-scale events for the sports, entertainment, corporate, and nonprofit sectors, David helped form Awakening Recovery in 2015 and opened its first recovery home in July 2016.
