Irish Substance Use in America: The Irish Famine, Fever, and Indentured Servitude

This workshop will introduce counselors to the Irish people and key cultural features of their history. Focus will be placed on the emphasis of alcohol in Irish life in America and Ireland. Common treatment issues are reviewed, and cultural guidelines recommended. Comparisons and contrasts will be discussed on immigration, pandemics, and human rights.
Tim Sinnott is the Clinical Director of Elevate Addiction Services in Watsonville, CA. Mr. Sinnott has more than 35 years of experience providing progressive leadership in the profession of substance use disordered rehabilitation. He is the former President of CAADAC and former member the CCAPP Board of Directors. During his extensive career, Mr. Sinnott has had the opportunity to work in hospital administration, psychiatric care, and substance use disorders rehabilitation. He has extensive experience as CEO, Program Director and Clinical Director. He is a frequent conference presenter, behavioral healthcare consultant, psychotherapist and has served on numerous Boards of Directors.
