Summary

As video, online and mobile games become more prevalent in our lives, so too has addictions related to games. Many have noted an uptick of problematic video gaming/ screen use during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Globally, as everyone are increasingly required to use screens while sheltering-in-place, for everything from attending classes to staying socially engaged, the line between normal and problematic technology use is further blurred. This workshop will discuss trends of problematic gaming, present signs and symptoms of problem gaming, and share existing resources to address this emerging health issue.    

Biography

Tiffany Wang (she/hers) is a health educator for NICOS Chinese Health Coalition’s GOT GAME (Going Overtime – Gaming And Media-use Education) project. She is currently a Master of Social Welfare (MSW) student at the University of California, Los Angeles. Tiffany is dedicated to serving historically marginalized communities of color, with a concentration on children and families and the role of mental health on healthy development.
